RCWR has been an absolute life changing experience for me. I came here looking for answers and
with the help of some amazing counsellors, I have found a purpose for my life. The program just
works. I’ve increased my understanding of what a balanced and structured life really entails. After
these three months I feel that I have a better chance of finding happiness and fulfillment in my life.
Best Recovery process I ever experienced. It has been life changing for me. Thank you so much for
giving me hope, purpose and direction again Alan Strachan and Mike Freeman I am forever in your
debts for speaking love and truth back into my life. I love you brothers in-Christ to bits.
A place filled with love and support. It helped me deal and shape my
emotions. It taught me the lessons that will make me love myself, to see that I will do great things
and that I can take life head on. White River Recovery Centre is a safe place without any judgement
that drugs serenity and wisdom to your life and now I have to carry that out.
This place is really special to me. It’s exactly what I needed to kickstart my new life in recovery in
every aspect, from the therapy to activities to the community environment and all its trials and
tribulations. It’s a humble and good-hearted environment. For someone like me who had lost all
hope as well as myself and identity, this place allowed me to come into my own and work on things I
didn’t even know were there.
I came in here broken, I thought I had come for meth and opiate addiction but I got to find out that
my addiction was a deeper issue, the team here at White River helped me see my potential and a
new found value for life. I’m going to live purpose driven and take back my life.
For the past seven years I have been battling crystal-meth addiction. I lost everything because of this,
including myself. I have been in seven rehabs, some very ineffective and unregistered. I lost all hope,
faith, purpose and saw no use for living, until I arrived at White River Recovery Centre. Friendly,
passionate, and dedicated staff treat clients with dignity and respect. The therapy presented has no
equal. I highly recommend RCWR and am very grateful that I completed a 3 month program here.

The Way We Work
Helping You Heal—Not Just Get Clean
We don’t just treat addiction. We help people rebuild their lives.
Addiction affects every part of a person’s life — not just the body, but also thoughts, relationships, habits and sense of purpose. That’s why we look at all of it and create a structured environment that helps you slowly, steadily begin to change from the inside out.
You’ll have individual therapy, group sessions, wellness activities, family support and time to reflect. We help you understand the reasons behind the addiction and offer practical tools to help you stay well in the long run.
Why Three Months?
Recovery can’t be rushed. A few weeks might help you detox, but deep, lasting change takes time.
Our three-month programme gives you that time. You’ll have the space to settle in, do the deeper work and build something that lasts. It’s long enough to make a difference, but still manageable — and you’ll be supported every step of the way.
Getting Here Is Easy
We’re based in Mpumalanga, just outside White River and less than 10 kilometres from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. Whether you’re coming from Johannesburg or further afield, it’s an easy trip — just a one-hour flight or a four-hour drive. We also offer a comfortable shuttle service if you need transport.
Once you arrive, you’ll see why so many people feel at home here. It’s quiet, it’s beautiful, and it gives you the space to start again.
How We Support You
You Deserve More Than Just a Treatment Plan
No one gets handed a one-size-fits-all plan at White River Recovery. We take time to listen and build a recovery journey that suits you.
Our care team includes psychologists, psychiatrists, addiction counsellors, nurses, nutritionists and more — all working together to support your healing. You’ll have one-on-one sessions, group therapy, healthy routines and support that meets you where you are.
What We’re Really About
Helping you build a life that feels good to live
At the heart of everything we do is a simple goal: helping you live a life that feels worth living — sober, healthy, and full of meaning.
That means:
- Breaking free from addiction
- Healing what’s underneath it
- Learning healthier ways to deal with stress and emotions
- Building real-life skills and confidence
- Making sure you have support after you leave
You don’t have to have it all worked out right now. You just need a starting point. And we’re here to walk with you from there.
What We Offer
Real help, steady support, and a place to start fresh
At White River Recovery, we are more than just a treatment centre. We’re here to give you the support and structure to start healing in a space that feels safe and calm.
We’re a faith-based centre, and we do our work with compassion. We believe people recover best when they feel cared for and understood — not rushed or judged.
Here’s what you’ll find when you stay with us:
- Help with medical aid and travel
- A proper medical detox if needed, done safely at an offsite facility
- A quiet, secure place where you can focus on recovery
- A full three-month programme that gives you time to settle and heal

We want you to leave here feeling more stable, more sure of yourself, and ready to live life on your own terms — without needing to escape it.
What We Treat
Addiction looks different for everyone. We’re here to help.
People struggle with different things. For some, it’s alcohol or drugs. Others feel stuck in patterns that are harder to name — gambling, food issues, work, online habits, sex, or exercise.
Whatever your situation, if something is taking over your life and you want a way out, we’ll walk that path with you.
We support people dealing with:
- Alcohol
- Drug use, including prescription medication
- Gambling
- Social media or internet use
- Porn or sex-related struggles
- Food issues
- Work or exercise habits that have become unhealthy
It’s not just about stopping the behaviour. We’ll help you understand what’s behind it, and how to find steadier ground.
What We Offer
Real support. A chance to start fresh.
White River Recovery is more than just a rehab centre. It’s a calm place to begin again — a place where people come to feel safe, supported and understood.
We’re a faith-based centre, and we believe people heal best when they’re treated with care and respect, not pressure or judgment.
When you come here, we’ll help you settle in and get the support you need. That includes help with medical aid, travel arrangements and, if necessary, a safe medical detox at an off-site facility.
Our programme runs over three months. That gives you time to slow down and heal at your own pace. You’ll work with experienced counsellors, attend group sessions, and have access to a medical team who understands addiction and recovery.
We also offer support for mental health concerns like anxiety and depression.
You’ll stay in comfortable accommodation, either private or shared, depending on what suits you best. You’ll have good meals, daily exercise, time to rest, and opportunities to reconnect with yourself and others.
There are also activities and outings to help you feel grounded again. We work with families too, and help you prepare for life after treatment once you’re ready to leave.
Our goal is simple — to help you feel stronger and better equipped to live without the things that have been holding you back.
Inpatient Treatment
A quiet space to heal
In our inpatient programme, you’ll stay at the centre full-time while you work on your recovery.
You’ll have structure, support and a bit of breathing room from everything that’s been weighing you down.
There’s no rush. No pressure. Just steady support, honest conversations and a space to figure things out with people who care.
You’ll take part in therapy sessions, eat well, rest when you need to, and begin to rebuild a routine that works for you.
Inpatient or Outpatient — What’s right for you?
Some people need time away from their everyday environment. Others can manage recovery while staying at home.
Inpatient care is often a better fit if things have been difficult for a while, or if your home situation makes it hard to stay focused. You’ll be surrounded by people who understand what you’re going through and can help you stay on track.
Outpatient care can work if you have a strong support system and a safe, stable space to return to after sessions.
If you’re unsure which approach is best, we’re happy to talk it through and help you decide what makes sense for your life.
If You’ve Relapsed
You haven’t failed. You just need support.
If you’ve slipped, it doesn’t mean you’re starting from scratch. It just means something’s still hurting, and you need a bit more help. That happens.
Recovery isn’t always a straight path. Most people hit bumps along the way. What matters is that you keep going — and that you don’t try to do it alone.
Whether this is your first time asking for help or you’ve been through treatment before, you’re welcome here. We’ll take it from where you are now and walk with you from there.
Start With Hope
Even if everything feels heavy or messy, there’s still a way forward. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to take one step. The rest can come after that.
